LIZARDKING çddf, faa, afa, aaf, faf, ffa, aff ¢ LIZARDKING/RAZOR 1911 ³Comments From the studio musician, Andreas Stenhager: ¹ When I heard the first tune from this guy, called 'Desert Dawn' (from 'Memorial Songs 2'/Diesel), I found the style very own, as if he had worked it all out by himself. 'Desert Dawn' had a very nice melody, and even though the drums are a little bit too soft for the general sound, he manages to keep my attention all through the song. Then I heard the rest of the tunes, and I found them being copies of Desert Dawn(or vice versa). What strikes me is his general knowledge of taking the right chords, but also that he throws away the main idea of his songs by putting the same leadinstrument to them every time. The bassline is also very much alike in the different songs, although that doesn't disturb me as much as the leads. Maybe he uses the cutcommando(if there is one?) too often when changing between notes/samples. It tends to sound a bit unnatural and computerized in a way that keeps me wondering why such a talented guy like this don't ever change. Actually, there is some songs that are not as Lizardking-erized, like Tango ¶Love Song, and I think he manages to fullfil the mainidea good, maybe because he doesn't use the 'woaaa'-sound. As already stated, Lizardking could be better if he wasn't so afraid of searching for new ways of expanding his musical views. I am sure that he could if he really tried. An average musician due to the lack of variation, but then again, if this is popular and if you're not intrested in inner satisfaction, why bother changing it? ³Diesel's comment: ¹This is a good friend to me, so I'll try to be as objective I possibly can. Lizardking is generally known as the 'wacka-wacka'-guy, who loves 'A0f' and Woooooaaaa-sounds, but it has taken him far up the charts. He is more than aware of his reputation, so on Memorial Songs #2, there is partly a new Lizardking. He has also made a CD together with D-luxe and a DAT-tape together with Mantronix. Go ahead and buy it, it's worth it!
